I’ve spent over 30 years in AgTech and Precision Ag building software, selling data, and trying to make this stuff work. From being around my families company Satshot from the mid-90s to other experiences from Crop Insurance to API connections. I've met many, seen a lot, and experienced many a thing in this corner of Ag. It's been quite the ride.
The thing is though I've also seen what doesn't work and what has got in the way. Being so close to the mapping world of Agriculture too has shown me something that I think many have ignored or maybe just skipped over.
Through this we all have built various versions of the same thing over and over. It's lead us all to a tipping point I feel that needs to be addresses as well. We need a better way to focus on digital data and we can't do it anymore the way we have by repeatably building the same core thing that connects it all.
I'm not building an FMIS with all the bells and whistles. I'm not wanting to create a singular platform. What I'm wanting is for us all to build the same core things together and use them in unity and to connect all of your bells and whistles to it.
What I'm doing is calling out a concept, while contributing something to start from, and building out a way to monitor the flow for others via the base framework of an open agriculture geospatial engine.
